The Transformers is a line of toys produced by the toy companies Takara and Hasbro. Initially reusing previously-released toys from the Japanese toylines Diaclone (ダイアクロン) and Microman (ミクロマン), Hasbro issued the toys under the name Transformers in the United States in 1984. The premise behind the Transformers toyline is that an individual toy's parts can be shifted about to change it from a vehicle, a device, or an animal, to a robot action figure and back again. The taglines "More Than Meets The Eye" and "Robots In Disguise" reflect this ability.

Over all I'm pretty happy with this pillow. My only complaint is that it's really not even 6 months old and it already split at the seam a little bit. However it's nothing that a little fabric glue can't fix. The detail is great, it's very soft and was the final touch to re-doing our son's bedroom in Transformers. All in all I would buy again!

Neat little pillow that goes great with my son's Transformer collection (more like a museum!). This is designed more for display than use. If your child is fairly young then they may be able to use it as a pillow while watching their favorite Transformers episode or movie but for larger kids, again, this is best used as a display on a shelf or bed.

Well,I knew there was absoloutely no way I was going to spend my hard earned money on this disaster of a film. I knew it wasn't going to be good, but I was just astonished about how bad it really was going to be. Shai La Dousche again demonstraits his inability to act throughout the entire film,Megan Fox just poses slutty and says a few lines here and there and well...the only thing Michael Bay can deliver are fancifal CGI effects on a ginormous budget, large explosions and little to no plot. This film's script was written so badly, that they turned to creating(or re-introducing) Autobot characters that are ghetto and illiterate and that was suppose to be funny and entertaining.Lets also not forget "Sam's" butt raping chiwawa Mojo and Deceptcons with sewer mouths. Is that really what people what their kids to see and here?Combine all of this with CG effects that just become convoluted and run together after a while. There is nothing memorible about this film other than to recall how bad it truely was.Years ago, George Lucas said in an interviw that "Special effects aren't the story, the story is the story," and he was right in saying so.Who would have ever thought that he would be going against his word and creating three god awful prequels and for other directors to in turn take that ill,pre-conceived idea and make films as bad, if not worse. Do yourself a favor, unless you are totsl Transformers nerd, you'd be doing yourself a service of NOT purcahsing or renting this film.I got mine for free, and I'm just peeved about wasting the time watching it.However, if explosions, fighting robots, and skanky girls are waht get your rocks off,I guess this is the film for you.

Transformers Revenge of the Fallen was something I was really looking forward to after seeing the very first superbowl tv spot for it. I have been a Transformers fan all my life wheter its The classic G1, Beast Wars, Armada, Energon, The 2007 Film I have always loved the epic battle between the Autobots and The Decepticons. Transformers (Two-Disc Special Edition + BD Live) [Blu-ray] in 2007 was for me one of the coolest experiences of my life I went around telling everyone "Woah dude you have to see this movie its the best movie ive ever seen" and I was beeing honest with them I fell in love with the live action direction for Transformers. Transformers Revenge of the Fallen for me did live up to my expectations, a crazy, awesome, cool and fun blockbuster that will blow everyone away. Bigger and Better are the words to use. Everyone seems to have some sort of complaint about this movie but cant you just have some fun once and awhile. When I now watch movies I ask myself was it as good as Transformers 2? The movie is probably the coolest thing my eyes have ever seen, I enjoyed equal to the first and I cant wait for the third, for me these movies are funny and exciting they make me feel awesome. Optimus Prime and Megatron fighting for control of Earth and the Universe in my mind will allways be the coolest thing in my world. Transformers Revenge of the Fallen is a movie I could watch twice a day everyday for my life. Autobots transform and roll out!

My first piece of advice: If you want an well balanced assessment of the quality of this movie, just go straight to "more 1-star ratings." They will tell you everything you need to know. But I'll say one thing most of the others didn't. The worst things about this movie were: 1. Michael Bay 2. Roberto Orci 3. Alex Kurtzman 4. Ehren Kruger You can't have a good movie without a good director and a good script. And both were, as others put it, an epic fail in this case. I blame the writers as well as the director, though the director gets a bigger share. All should have been fired before the movie even started filming. For why, see the first Transformers film they made. The only excuse executives have for keeping them on is the money the first film made. Unfortunately, they're looking at the dollar signs from the second as justification for keeping Mr. Bay employed. They failed to notice that a huge number of people who watched the first film hated it so much that there is little chance the third will be as successful. I can only hope it bombs so bad they'll be forced to let someone else take over the movie franchise. There are a fair number of capable actors in the film. But none of them were put to good use. Even Peter Cullen had to utter some horrible lines like, "Give me your face" and other such nonsense. He made it sound as good as it could, but it still sounds stupid. As far as the visuals are concerned, they were totally inconsistent with even the first film, nevermind the premise of Transformers. In the first film, a robot did not constantly have little pieces flying off whenever it got hit. In this one, the slightest touch and pieces of CG metal and glass went everywhere. Because of this, while in the first film the robots appeared powerful and untouchable, in the second they looked like flimsy science projects gone wrong, then put through a blender. So, despite the enormous budget, even the special effects were enormously disappointing--and that's compared to the first, which already lowered the standards so far I wasn't expecting to get much out of the robot action scenes. Since everyone else is commenting on it, I'll just say characters like Megan Fox's and Isabel Lucas's are so unimportant that their inclusion is nothing more than yet another tasteless departure from good moviemaking. I have nothing against the actresses, but their part essentially amounted to a few shots of a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue being spliced into an bad student film. It's just another annoying distraction that has nothing to do with what made the original Transformers characters and stories great. As an aside, at least if you purchased the Bumblebee transforming case edition, you got a transformable case out of it. But for the disc itself, I recommend using it as a drink coaster. (A guest can use the special features disc for their drink.) You'll get much more enjoyment out of it that way.

If you saw this movie (like I stupidly did) you probably walked out of the theater licking your wounds. Not just because your a Transformers fan and you had to watch Michal Bay take a crap all over something important to you but also because you probably felt like you just paid someone $12.50 (or however much movies cost in your hometown) to kick you in the face for the longest 2 and a half hours of your life. Revenge of the Fallen is an abrasive, ugly, racist, offensive, awful excuse for a movie. It's a giant advertisement for god knows what that's full of explosions and the sound of clanging metal. Questions will arise as your brain wonders what it did to piss you off and your eyeballs try to kill themselves. Questions like, What purpose did the "twins" have other then to remind us that racism still exsist?! why did we need to see Devastator's balls? Why is John Tuttoro in a thong?! Megan Fox and Shila Booff or whatever the hell his name is have the chemistry and acting abilities of wet towels! Why in the name of freaking GOD would I wanna see a greater focus on them?! OH! and speaking of god... ROBOT HEAVEN!!!! NUFF' SAID!!!! I know it seems like I'm dropping some serious spoiler and I am. BUT I DON'T CARE! The movie has all but ZERO plot! If you haven't seen this movie yet and are concidering it don't! Instead stay at home and stick forks in both of your ears while playing with power tools and suckng on a car battery. It will be more enjoyable and slightly less painful then the ass kicking you will get from your friends and family when you admit this movie lives in your collection! Seriously, when the alien invaders come and ask for a sacrifice, let's just give them Michal Bay OK?

Transformers Transformers

Reviews

This movie should have been about giant robots. If you want an emotional film then go ahead and explore the emotional lives of the robots, but no, we end up exploring the boring banal lives of some teenage twits. Total disappointment. There are action films where the plot gets out of the way so we can have fun. There are action films where the plot and the action work together to make a great movie. Then there are movies like this were the plot gets in the way and totally ruins the fun of the action.

I grew up watching Transformers so of course I'm gonna love the movies. You can't go run with the action, special effects and yeah why not throw in a little eye candy as in Megan Fox. Sure she is not the best actress but who cares cause she is certainly nice to look at. LOL.....

Wow! They pulled it off. When I heard that Transformers was being made into a live action feature, I was suspect. Even with today's CGI, I couldn't help but wonder. Kudos to Michael Bay, because not only did he pull it off, it was fantastic. The story centers around Sam (Labeouf), whose great grandfather made one of the greatest discoveries of all time: NBE1. Sam soon finds himself in the middle of a war between Autobots and Decepticons for the All Spark. A cube that can give life and save Cybertron. Protected by Bumblebee and led by Optimus Prime, Sam goes on a wild ride to help the Autobots keep the All Spark from the Decepticons and NBE1 aka: Megatron! The story is actually well done and not rushed. It takes awhile before you really see a Transformer. The acting is strong as well. LaBeouf is a great fit as Sam and Megan Fox (will not win any oscars) makes for great eye candy. Voight and Turturro are excellent in supporting roles. The real stars are the Transformers and they don't disappoint. Peter Cullen returns from the cartoon to voice Optimus and thank God. He was tremendous! Hugo Weaving plays Megatron and his presence is felt. I was never a big fan of the cartoons growing up, but there is more to this film than meets the eye! (Couldn't help myself!) NOW FOR MY BLU RAY THOUGHTS: Super sharp and gorgeous! Colors are vibrant and Blu Ray brings these robots to life so much better than DVD! Audio is extremely strong as well. SPECIAL FEATURES: All are carried overs with BD extras. FINAL THOUGHTS: UPGRADE RIGHT NOW!!! A MUST OWN!

Awesome disc....great sound and picture quality. A must have for any home theater enthusiast.

Got it in the mail pretty fast. There was a little chip broken off from the case and had to clean the dvd to finish watching the movie. Overall good

This was my son's #1 wish last Christmas. Unfortunately, it was a big disappointment. It is too heavy and does not stay together -- a complete waste of Santa's resources.

I purchased this item for my 6 year old son. It was too heavy at first but still complains of neck pain; but absolutely loves this toy! My 3 year old son enjoys it as well but I would not recommend it for young children. Also very noisey!!

I bought 3 of these, all three started coming apart after an hour of use, plastic was breaking allover! Although the plastic broke on all 3, all three kids LOVED them and continued to play with them. The functionality never broke, just the outside.

Bought this for my godson and he loved it. The size is large enough that I was even able to put it on myself. The only knock that I have on the product is that it my godson had to tilt the head to put the mouthpiece closer to his mouth in order to make the voice distorter work. Think they should have made the helmet smaller for the core target group instead of making it bg enough for adults to wear.

My son loves this toy. he is 7 and his cousin who is 5 also loves it. My son also have the Prime one as well and I would buy any voice changer helm for him :)

I don't know who likes it more, my daughter who runs around the house pretending to be a transformer, or my husband who gets endless entertainment from saying absurd things with it. Both of them entertain me with it. Whether it's my daughter saying "Autobots, Transform!" or my husband using cliche pick-up lines with it, it's always got us giggling. My husband even bought this for one of the other submarine officers who had a hard time with the crew taking him seriously because of his timid voice. See, it even has military applications. :) I love this toy. We have had it for a year now and it's still intact, even with all the abuse it takes.

very pleased with this toy, it fits from child to adult, and it changes your voice. there are a couple different setting too

This toy is great for all ages. I got it for my 4 year old nephew for christmas and he loved it. He especially loved the way the helmet changed his voice. The toy was so much fun even my 65 year old dad had to play with the helmet. I would recommend this helmet for any age.

WE GOT BUMBLE BEE AND OPT FOR MY 4 YEAR OLD SON, he loves them they were here fast and in great shape good job amazon.com and all who contributed.. my son loves the voice change. i would be lieing if i said my husband and myself have not played with them as well. they are really cool!!!

My son just loves this helmet and we love it also. Great purchase along with the blaster.

Transformers Leader Optimus Prime Transformers Leader Optimus Prime

Reviews

I was never much of a Transformers fan before the first 2007 movie. When I was a kid, I thought the toys were cool but I never owned any. I've bought most of the Leader Class Transformers from both movies and while I very much like the design of all of them (with the exception of Megatron) this version of Optimus is by far the most complex and awesome toy of the bunch. Other reviewers have stated that this is definitely not a toy for 5 year olds. They are correct. I would say the youngest child to actually figure this thing out would have to be around 12 or so. It's just way to complex for most people in general much less little children. It's best to approach this toy (pretty much all of the Leader Class versions) as if it were an expensive puzzle that you didn't want to break. If you are the impatient type, don't bother. If you have clumsy sausage fingers don't bother either! Considering how complex this toy is, I think it's fair to say that it is very durable. You just have to use some care and think about what's going to happen before you go ripping his arm off. Slow, deliberate movements are what's needed the first few times you change him from robot to truck and then back again. As one person had stated in a previous review, once you have successfully transformed him a few times, it's waaaaay easier to do it again. The same can be said for the other leader class models as well. (Brawl and Ultimate Bumblebee are particularly difficult.) I have deliberately taken several hours to transform all off the transformers I own to avoid breaking them. It paid off. With this version of Optimus (I actually have the "Buster" version. It's the same toy, with the exception of having lots of nice shiny chrome and the added bonus of gigantic cannon that he holds in his right hand.) I spent probably 5 hours transforming him from robot to truck on the first go around. After that, I could do it in less than ten minutes. Other reviewers have complained about the instructions. They're right when they say they pretty much suck, but they do help. This is a toy that will make you think. I'll be the first to admit that after an hour or so of staring at a series of black & white drawings you may start to think you're never going to get it transformed, but don't give up. Once you've figured it out, you will be quite pleased with yourself! You may also gain an entirely new appreciation of the engineering of this toy. It's truly a work of art. My hat goes off to all the people responsible for creating the most movie realistic version of the mighty Optimus ever made. The most difficult part of the process for me was transforming his chest area to the truck mode. You actually have to pull each side of his chest out of the slots that they ride in. Once I had figured out what I actually had to do I was terrified that I was going to break it, but I didn't. Another complaint I've read is the positioning of his extendable swords in robot mode interfering with his movement and posing of his arms. At first it seemed impossible for me to arrange him so that he could still move his arms around when the swords were in their closed position. However, it wasn't. Just be patient, and there actually is a "sweet spot" for both arms to have almost total articulation whether the swords are closed or open. Overall, this character is very posable. Most of the images I've seen of this character don't come close to how cool you can make his stance. Standing bolt upright looks completely dumb! I wouldn't recommend this toy for daily use either. Its best market is probably for collectors, only to be transformed once in awhile and displayed on a shelf to admire its beauty, accuracy and complexity. I love the commercials that Hasbro had running for these toys. They are completely misleading on how long it takes to change them around. Also, you wouldn't want to be playing with any of these toys in a dirt pile after you dropped almost $50 on it! Bottom line, it's a great toy for the price but don't give it your 5 year old. If you do purchase it, remember to take your time and just enjoy yourself. It really is a puzzle to be figured out.

Transformers is a well established multigenerational franchise. It appeals to fans and collectors way back from the original 80s merchandise to the modern and contemporary concepts introduced with the latest Michael Bay's movies. This means customers targeting goes from toys designed for small children, all the way up to thirty somethings adult collectors. This Optimus Prime is intended for the last. To be honest, the design of it is not as complex as some reviewers had tried to point out. Their problem may reside in if they purchased this product for the right targeted age. True, there is also another version of this product labeled on its packaging as suitable for 5 & up years old. But this, obviously, is intended for parents that wants to encourage their children with challenging toys that require a higher degree of care and patience. The fun factor of this kind of product comes not from the time spent playing with it as a toy or action figure, but instead from the time and challenge it requires to transform it from one mode to the other and back. So, as some reviewer compared it to a rubick cube, the fun of it is in the challenge and the satisfaction of acomplishment you get when succedding at the end. For its complexity and attention to detail, to this day, this might be the more accurate and detailed version of movie Optimus Prime. Very well assembled. High quality materials. Also, this Buster Prime version has chrome painting and details not found on the regular version, such as a gas tanks that combine to transform in to a gun. Very recommended for any collector and to any parent that wants to encourage their children to new degrees of patience and challenge.

My son has written this review: This Optimus Prime is awesome! The features for this toy are lights and sounds and a voice recording of Peter Cullen saying "I am Optimus Prime!".It also includes Mech Alive moving parts and orange blades which pop out when buttons are pressed. It's very thin and detailed compared to the first movie's Prime. The problem with it are that the toy is a little difficult to transform at first, but as you practice a little, you get the hang of it.But if you are trying to pick one of the three Leaders, get this one. Overall this is a great toy.

I bought this for my 5 year old nephew. I must say that it had a hard time trying to transform the robot into a car. As a matter of fact It took me about 45 minutes to transform it for the first time using the instructions. But once you know how it works it is really fun.. we had a blast!!! The details are awesome... It is like a piece of art... excelent design!!!

This toy should go to the right kind of person: someone who's patient, loves a challenge, and likes a good transformation. This is not for 5 year olds, and not for parents who don't have at least 1 of the above qualities. If you don't fit, don't worry! There are plenty more awesome, simpler transformers that I'm sure you and your child can handle. This Optimus is not one of them. (Want really simple? Look up Fast Action Battlers) Transforming him into a truck for the first time takes a while, and takes patience; bits like getting his front windows out of his chest and locked into his arms, or getting his front wheels to snap into the grill just right can all be frustrating. After the first time it becomes a lot easier, and a lot more fun! Everything tabs into place very well and he's pretty durable, so my frustrations first transforming him are made up for with the subsequent lack thereof. But even if you never get him into truck mode, he still makes a darn good action figure. Also, Youtube videos > directions, but honestly that's not news for anyone who's bought a Transformer before. Other reviews have already called this a work of art, so I won't repeat them (err... oops?). I'm just fascinated that something that looks so awesome in Robot mode, can also look so perfect in Vehicle mode (and hides everything especially well). There's also little things that make him look better without any additional effort from you, like his back wheels and the way they adjust their angle when you rotate his legs. My only negatives: His arm movement is hindered somewhat by his blue shoulder-blades and by his swords. Annoying, but not too bad. Unless you're super careful, prepare to hear, "I am Optimus Prime" about 5x per transformation, 'cause everytime his neck lifts up at all it triggers. Aforementioned transformation frustrations. Feet are big and stable, but he's still a hair back-heavy, so falls backward once in a while if he's standing too straight. Minor detail. Overall, amazing! Transformers Human Alliance - Bumblebee with Sam Transformers Human Alliance - Bumblebee with Sam

Reviews

I was a little nervous purchasing this transformer, since some do break easily, are small, and are hard to transform. But this Bumblebee transformer is great. My son had it transformed in just a little bit. It is a good size and very durable so far.

I bought this recently for my friend who loves Transformers. Right as it came out of the box I was surprised at how good the actual quality of the model is. The paint and decals on the body are really good looking, and the clear windows add a lot of realism to the car form. As any good transformer fan is going to do, we went to work on transforming it from it's car form to robot form. This is a very difficult task indeed. Most of the parts are hard to get a grip on, and alot of times you don't think the piece can move for fear of breaking it, but after checking the instructions for the 5th time you realize it is safe to pull a bit harder. Although plenty strong enough or a careful modeler to transform, this is definitely not something a kid would be able to do more than once without snapping pieces. With the car fully transformed to robot mode (a good 45 minute affair), I was once again pleasantly surprised with the actual craftsmanship of the model. It looks wonderful, and has a ton of points of articulation, making it move quite well. The robot form can stand on it's own and hold poses. The only part I dislike about the robot form is the head, which appears to be a different plastic than the rest of the body, and actually pops off without much force. My last remarks will be about the Sam model which comes with the model. Sam can fit inside when the model is in robot mode, and there are plenty of areas designed to hold Sam in the robot mode. Sam himself has an amazing amount of articulation, having arm joints, legs, knees, even a waist joint. Sam is made out of a different material than bumble bee though, and his craftsmanship besides the pose-ability is quite poor. His face looks extremely simple, and the paint is no where near comparable to Bumble Bee's. (Sam is currently strapped to a rocket awaiting the 4th of July celebrations) Last Thoughts - This toy should really be treated more like a model. Although it is extremely pose-able, transforms and has a rider, the parts themselves to not feel sturdy, and any type of prolonged play would likely break one of the many pieces. Over all it is a great addition to any transformer collection, and looks exceptionally good when posed up high on a shelf, to watch over all humans and keep our planet free.

My son got this for his birthday and he was so pleased with it. He was so excited to play with it and it only took him a few seconds to get it out of the box. He played with it constantly and for several hours. At first the transformation seemed hard but he figured it out very quickly and he can now do it with ease. It features great articulation. It is very screen accurate and matches the movie model quite nicely. The Sam Witwicky figure actually looks like Shia Labouf. My son loves this figure and it is one of his favorites. Note: There is a modification that can be made to make the figure even more screen accurate. If you want to do this with your figure it is actually pretty simple. There are two screws in the back of his waste. Unscrew them and split the waste in half. After that swap the legs and rotate and twist them so that the wheels are faceing the outside of his body. Finally put the legs into place and screw the waste back together. He will still transform into car mode but you have to make a clearense in the waste so that it will rotate. Rotate and twist the legs around so that everything will fit. He will transform the same after that is done.

I ordered this toy as a present for my godson. I didnt expect it to be so small!! When i opened the package i was very dissapointed on the size of this toy and so was my godson. Unfortunately there was no time to send it back cause it was his christmas present. The price listed is extremely high for this product but the good thing is it was shipped very quick!!!

i bought this transformer for my boyfriend for his birthday. he seemed to enjoy it, but i was definitely weary about the product once he started working with it because the quality looked so cheap!!! i thought if he turned something in the wrong way, it'd snap for sure! overall, the product looks good and it transforms. but for the price, the quality was not worth it!

I have to say that this is a good book to avoid. I was excited to read it - I loved the War for Cybertron video game's story, and this was being billed as the prequel - but it turns out it's just a poorly written mess with no continuity, and infected by Michael Bay's movies. I'm trying to stay vague enough to not spoil anything for you who still might want to read this - but just to warn you, the following might give some stuff away... Just to add to how poorly this book is written (read the other reviews for more) - here's an example: chapter 6 ends with megaton with Orion as an attack hits. Chapter 7 says that when Megatrn heard about that attack, he was talking with Orion while Orion over the Grid, while they are across Cybertron from each other. They are clearly talking via TV. A page later, no wait, they're together. Two pages later - no wait, Orion is back home, I think, cuz he makes a call but... No he's with Megatron's troops... Confusing things like this happen all the time. At one point the character Ratbat shows up, talking and standing behind a podium ... And then ON the podium... If you know the old toys and cartoon, you might imagine the purple bat that changes into one of Soundwave's tapes, but there's no explanation at all until chapters later, when sure enough that's what it was. The Transformers franchise storyline is a mess. It already was before Michael Bay came along - there was the cartoon storyline (that had it's own problems), the completely separate Marvel comic storyline, then much later came IDW and other's comics which muddled things further, and then Michael Bay, then the War for Cybertron game (which could agree with the cartoon, only excepting how the characters look). And then this book comes out, claiming to be "official". First off, Hasbro, what's that even MEAN? This book sounds at first like it's setting up the video game storyline, which is great by me, but then suddenly half way through the book, in ONE chapter, the author ruins it all. He talks about the Allspark getting lost in space, and Bumblebee already knowing Optimus and losing his ability to speak. What?? This book could have been something great. It could have told a good story. But this author is terrible, and the book borrows chaotically from too many sources to even guess what universe it's supposed to be in. I wish Hasbro WOULD decide on an official Transformers cannon, but when they put the "official" stamp on the War for Cybertron game, AND on this book, and they don't agree with each other... I would have put up with a lot of bad writing, if it had at least made some sense...

The characters are more broad and likeable than ever before. Yes Irvine's novel brought me back in time to the Transformers cartoon episodes but the writing is exciting and brilliant. For those of us without the patience to wait for the next Batman movie or Transformers 3 why not enjoy a great novel about our favorite topic that flows like the wind. Great novel, great author, enjoy.

The thing I like most about this book for kids is that it uses current, real world, visceral debates about freedom versus social stability to drive the plot. I'm a sucker for complicated, multi-viewpoint storytelling so I ate that like candy from a box.

I picked this up as soon as I could, being a Transformers fan since childhood and rediscovering my love for the robotic mythology through the recently released War for Cybertron video game. But rather than getting an epic sci-fi history lesson and war story, I found myself going through a wreckage of poorly made references to the Transformer toys, cartoons, comics, books and the recently released video game. As noted by other readers, errors and contradictions can be found throughout the book. It is strange to find plot contradictions and wrong names at various parts, especially when there is a wealth of accurate information the author could have easily accessed in writing this book. I will add my own: Chapter 28 says there were Seekers (plural) who joined the Autobots, and yet the next paragraph states that there was only one of them ("The *sole* exception")- Jetfire (who should be Skyfire for copyright reasons). The author throws in various characters in cameo appearances and minor roles, but some of his selections seem strange or even silly. For example, the almost unknown character of Armorhide the comedian is introduced earlier than the more iconic Ironhide the warrior. The former's character is established more directly in the story, while we only get various short dialogue and snippets of the latter despite his popularity and more personal involvement and contribution to the war. The research the author did of the characters in the book, while accurate in most cases, misses the fact that much of the Transformers' personalities were displayed and defined by the cartoon. It is strange to find the characters speaking so lengthily, philosophically, emotionally and insecurely in the book as compared to any of their older incarnations. Much of the writing seems very forced. Megatron is depicted as a passionate and sincere freedom fighter and yet is also hugely callous when it comes to some of his followers and plots being violent and criminal (despite statements saying he had nothing to do with them, his depiction easily leaves readers feeling like it was him all along). This is confusing to say the least and downright weird at the most. It also makes him a much less sympathetic character than the author intends him to be. Similarly, his feelings of betrayal towards Orion Pax's elevation to Optimus Prime was very rushed and jarring- he trusted Orion Pax enough with their cause to call him his "brother" and yet doesn't even give him a single chance to patch things up to continue their fight against the castes. Optimus Prime also acts out of character- where he is supposed to be peaceful, humble and selfless, following Megatron's lead and acting more as guide and spokesperson to their cause, he simply takes up the mantle of Prime with the barest of questions. For someone established to be looking up to Megatron for most of the novel, he doesn't even consider asking the High Council if Megatron might be more worthy of leadership. I was personally misled by the marketing for this book- I found out about this book when it was touted to be the background and prequel to the Transformers: War for Cybertron video game. However, the story depicted here is very different from that presented in the game, in fact borrowing from so many other different Transformer storylines and sources. Where fan service is concerned, the game does a much better job, integrating quotes from the 1986 Transformer movie more appropriately than this book does. Similarly, though I know that Omega Supreme, easily one of the most recognizeable of Transformer characters, can speak normally, the game had him speak in his mechanical, clipped, straightforward speech pattern (something he's famous for) whereas this book did not. The writer missed a huge opportunity to score points with Transformers fans by not doing that. Ultimately, Transformers: Exodus is at best a poorly written exposition of Cybertron and its history, but where much of its material and direction is dubious, I'm afraid it's not worth taking seriously. That there are so many mistakes in the book is a huge disservice to the franchise and makes obvious that the only reason the book was written was to make money at the expense of fan appreciation for the Transformers. Transformers fans are better off watching the cartoons, reading the other books and comics, and/or playing the video game than buying and reading this.

I'll start with the positives about this book: 1. It was not written by Alan Dean Foster. 2. It was not written by Simon Furman. 3. There are NO humans at all in this book. (Yes, Hasbro, it's true: we want *robots* in our robot stories, fancy that!) That's....uhhhh, about it. Problems with this book, in random order--I am keeping anything potentially spoilery to within the first 50 or so pages: 1. Editing is non-existent. The prose was flabby and there's no real sense of conflict or scene. Scenes will 'happen', set off with hard-hiatuses, but will have no conflict or resolution in them. Things are repeatedly restated, taking up pagespace and time that might have better gone to setting, characterization and plot development. 2. Pacing is s-l-o-w. It's a bit over 250 pages but it seems to last forever (not helped, of course, by the flabby prose). 3. A lot of the characterization makes no sense. Alpha Trion is some spooky dude who keeps the entire history of Cybertron. We're told he can't read the future clearly, only glimpses. Yet he's...regularly befuddled by actions that have already happened--that should, technically, be in his little magic book. Orion's emotional shifts are laughably volatile--he's suspicious, but then he's chumming it up. And in a 'canon' that says (*several times*) that new mechs sort of wash up by the Well, why does Megatron keep calling Orion 'brother'? What does that even mean in this? (Worldbuilding fail!) Megatron, who is allegedly uneducated, is a rhetorical genius with an extensive vocabulary. Orion is a lowly clerk who gets away with internal sabotage without even getting punished by his boss, much less having, oh, like an internal qualm? And for those who love Optimus? Yeah, one of his big psychological turning point moments is that he wants to go to an amusement park but can't. The angst! The pathos!! Wait. This is the guy who becomes Optimus Prime? (And don't even get me started on the forced cameos like Barricade, Blackout, Cliffjumper, etc.) 4. What canon is this? It directly contradicts movieverse, though it involves elements of IDW's Megatron Origin. One of my friends suggests it's a prequel for the upcoming cartoon, another says it's background for the recently released video game, but then admits it has nothing to do with the plot of the game other than the notion of 'Dark Energon'. So...is this a microcontinuity? It seems to bill itself as game-canon. Is it it's own thing? Why can't I tell? (If this is a harbinger of the quality of the upcoming cartoon? Count me *out*.) 5. It...contradicts itself at many points. I'll give you just one example. Page 78. "Not even Starscream, who had spent much of his scientific career in the labs....". Okay, Starscream = scientist, right? Then let's go to page 158. "See what?" Starscream asked. Neither Starscream nor Megatron were scientists." Wait, what? The real killer is that there are some really interesting concepts that could have been very cool if handled...better. The author clearly has no grasp, and certainly no love of the beloved Transformers characters, and it shows in every tedious page. Look, I'm a long time fan of Transformers--I was one of the original Generation 1 fans, back 26 years ago. I've stood by this franchise through a lot. But this book is turning me into one of those fans who will insist that this is not 'my' canon. This is like...some sort of tolerance test by Hasbro to see how much they can get away with or something. Either that or this is some Thanatos-drive cry for attention from the franchise. I've been led to believe that Hasbro's pretty involved and controlling of their franchise. Yet they let the sloppy writing, the bad characterization, the internal inconsistencies go? In short? If you want to read some good Transformers fiction, and I *never* thought I'd say this, but you'd be better off looking at fanfiction than this hack drivel. I want my money back. No, heck with that: I want my Transformers back.

This is a good choice for a child learning to read on their own but needs a little help. My son is 7 and he has a little trouble with some of the words but that is where dad and I come in! If you can get them reading it's great, and get them reading about something THEY like and it's even better! Whatever it takes to gear them towards reading. I'd recommend this book and would buy it again.

Propaganda at its finest. Almost reads like a Bible story. Stereotype alert!!!! Believers will love it. Brights/Humanists will want their money back.

My son likes the pictures, but he refuses to read this book. Some of the words are more advanced than basic reading and the sentence structure is very poor.

I give any book 5 stars if it will can a child to sit and read it! This book went over very well with my friend's 4 year old boy, so I would recommend it.

My 5 year old is just starting to read and this was a great book for him to work his way through. Buyer beware - This is more advanced then a Bob's Books type series.

As I stated in my other review, I think it's great if you can get kids reading and it's even better for them if it's about something they enjoy. My 7 year old needed a little help w/ some of this book but that is fine! We enjoyed it and would buy it again.

Great way to encourage reading for kids who love the Transformers. they have read it a few times already and want more books about them.

Something educational that my son loves! Why not right? We're teaching him to read and what better way than to let him read something that he's already interested in!!! It makes learning/teaching a walk in the park!

I was very pleased with the book. My son loves it! I purchased this along with "Meet the Autobots" for him to learn some of the names of the Transformers.

Most definitely the best Transformers game ever created thus far. Very fun, addictive, high replay value and outstanding multiplayer, this is a wonderful game. Every Transformers fan should have this game.

I don't normally do reviews for anything on Amazon but I have decided to write one for this. Like most Amazon customers I read some reviews before I purchased it and, at first, I wasn't going to buy it based on what I read (I read mostly negative reviews and 1 or 2 good ones). I really like this game a lot. I played the demo and I didn't like the transformations. Now that I have gotten use to it, I really like it. The game plays a lot like Gears of War; standard 3rd-person shooter on a pre-destined path moving a storyline. It's based off the same engine as Gears and a lot of things are similar (controls, the cinematics, even thematically, etc.) The game is broken up in 2 parts (each part with its own 5-6 levels of play) and you play both Decepticons and Autobots. It's really rad. I really like how they did this game. I mean there are really no good transforming ANY games whether it be Macross/Robotech, Transformers, Armored Core (is okay in my opinion), etc. For those who grew up with the G1 Transformers (as myself) there are things in the storyline that are heartwarming and somethings that are disappointing. I think the most disappointing is Starscream's voice. While it does not affect the overall game value or game it's a shame that the original voice actor passed away. Just a very stoic thing in the original Transformers. Some reviews are more harsh on Megatron's or other's voices but those don't bother me. Just Starscream's (also because it is the same voice-actor who does Frieza in the Dragon Ball Z series and videogames, I just have an ear for things like this). This is a fun game and overall I'm happy with the purchase. I think, retrospectively, I would have bought this game used or waited for the price to go down. I haven't played the multiplayer but, from what the demo suggests, I can assume that there isn't a HUGE replay value. I'm almost done with the game but regardless. While I am not one who drools over graphics and is more about the gameplay itself, one who is looking for either or both will be satisfied. The levels are really detailed and the world of cybertron is pretty incredible. It's great to see a couple of flashbacks to some of the older characters (Bumblebee, Soundwave, Jetfire, etc.) though there are some characters I wish were here such as Jazz. That's just a personal thing for me. Also, while the game is fairly straightforward and somewhat easy there are also some parts that are really hard. It's good. The game length is ok, I think I wish it was longer. Each chapter takes a fair amount of time to complete but it is a pretty short game. I don't usually mind short games but there is a lot this game could have gone with via storyline and gameplay. The game is done very well, it tells the pre-story to the G1 Transformers and is just a lot of fun. There are things that could be fixed or make it more dynamic but it's ok. I am happy with it. This game, in my opinion, is not going to be a blockbuster amazement like Assassin's Creed 2 or Gears of War 1,2 but it will be a fun and enjoyable game for your collection. I hope this helps!

If you are a fan of G1 Transformers, then this is the game for you. All of your favorite Autobots and Decepticons are here. Peter Cullen even does the voice of Optimus Prime! There are some bugs, and the Decepticon campaign is shorter than the Autobot one, but these are flaws that can be easily overlooked. If you grew up with Transformers like I did, then you will love this game.

the content for this game isn't all that bad, as a thrid person shooter it's enjoyable if a bit laking. the number of guns you can choose is pretty small. i like the campaign and being able to choose between three but some characters are stuck with useless guns so if you play online with three people one person is stuck being a tag along. in escalation mode, you fight a series of waves of increasingly more powerful enemies. the problem is you run out of ammo after killing two or three guys so you have to constantly buy more ammo at the stations provided in the game. as you kill you get points and those points can be used to buy better guns and shields but it's all done mid fight so if you run out of ammo with both guns and havn't gotten alotta kills you are stuck meleeing people until you can afford it. the upside is you can choose any robot for these missions each has their own unique skills and handling. however, there is only one map per faction, meaning there's two places to play these long drawn out battles on, they get old really fast. i won't comment on the online deathmatch as i did not play it, but as a game being done campaign and co-op what is there i like and there are some interesting new things here. it's just the amount of content i'd expect from a downloadable game or an expansion set. not worth the price and frustratingly so.

Transformers G1 fans of the 1980s rejoice. Here is the best game heretofore that captures the spirit of the original series and blows it out to fit the technology and story telling of the latest video game consoles. It is fun, visually arresting and an instant classic. Transformers: War for Cybertron

This game is excellent. I'm a huge God of War fan & figured that GOW 3 would've been the game to finally get me to buy the PS3 but I was wrong. I got through the release of GOW 3 w/o feeling I had to buy the system but when I saw the previews for this game, I had to get it. I've had the system since this game came out & neither the system nor the game has disappointed me. After I beat Transformers, I bought GOW 3 when it dropped to around $35, beat that game & now I pretty much only play Transformers. The levels are really cool (although my only complaint is that they kind of all look the same. I really hope that they make different looking levels in the next Transformers game if they make another one.) and the controls are excellent. I never found myself getting frustrated at the controls which is a huge positive. Its very comfortable to run & target & shoot at the same time, its very smooth. No graphic glitches that I could tell (didn't really find any glitches). Based on some of the negative reviews I've read about this game, I guess I'd say you should probably rent it first to see if you like it, but I really like this game & am glad I bought it. It also helped me to not have buyers remorse for buying the PS3.

War For Cybertron (PS3) PRO's Great action Fun playing as a Transformer Great sound Shallow, but entertaining story if you like Transformers Awesome boss battles Fun multiplayer CON's Not much enemy variety Limited customization for multiplayer when creating your own Transformer

As I kid (I am now 36) I used to like watching the Transformers cartoons. I read some of the comics, too. And I think they represent an icon toy for my generation. When the movies came out I liked them a lot (the first one, at least) and I was happy to see that they made this game. Especially since it was Activision who made the game. I was sorely disappointed, however, because after playing this game for 60 minutes I realized the game is linear, monotonous, repetitive, and skimpy on ammo. The single player campaign puts you 1/2 as a Decepticon (you can play Megatron!) and 1/2 as an Autobot (yes, Optimus too!). While it's fun to play as them, it gets very boring very quickly because the game puts you in a linear tunnel where you basically advance, find ammo, shoot robots all the time. In the times of open ended gaming and exploration, this game fails to deliver. The graphics are also an eye sore. All the backgrounds and color schemes don't allow for easy differentiation between background and foreground, so do expect a few headaches or sore eyes if you habitually spend long hours playing continuously (I do). All in all, I only recommend this game to die-hard fans and people who have $60 to spare. If you want a game that is worth your money, skip it. I did not play multiplayer.... maybe it gets better there.

Yes, I traded this game in before the first week of release was over. Why? Boring is the best way to sum it up - utterly boring. I am very sorry I pre-ordered the game, sorrier still that I paid full price for it, and definitely glad that I did a trade-in right away, so I could salvage 'some' of the money I lost. I was a huge fan of G1 Transformers growing up. Every reviewer who's a fan, has already summed up the movies so I won't bother. I was anticipating this game with reserved excitement. I figured it was an easy franchise to screw up, given the poor movie renditions, and the lack of previous Transformer titles capturing much interest. The only hope was, that I knew it was High Moon producing it. I thought - 'ohhh, this is the next Batman Arkham Asylum!' It is not, not even close!! I had high hopes they would turn this franchise into a video game that was a serious contender. I was so wrong. Yes, it is a cool recreation of the cartoon as far as character appearances and sticking to the cannon. Aside from the quick trip down memory lane, you are quickly left wondering why you are falling asleep during the actual gameplay. Reproduction value vs. plot: I recognize authenticity is key, and reproducing the cartoon many of us loved was foremost in the developers mind, but at what point do we stick to the re-creation, versus recognizing the simple fact that we were children back then. Grown adults need a bit more of a plot than a 30 minute Saturday morning cartoon. I felt this was the games weakest point, and what made it so boring for me. The story was just weak, and the character interaction, although accurate to the cartoon, is just shallow and unfulfilling. I think hands down, they needed better writers for this game. Graphics: the next point of contention I have is the graphics. I know some say the graphics are great, I disagree. I have a 1080p TV, and the graphics are only 720, and reminiscent of video games 5 years ago. Seriously, this game is like G1 PS3 games. I found the back drop of Cybertron to be difficult to make out from the robots, and yes I set the brightness to the recommended value in the game. I was disappointed by the visual effects of the game as most of the robots were just blurry enough (like poor res blurry), to not be able to make out the cool lines and effects they should have been carrying, or to watch them transform with detail. The previews for the game are far better than what actually came out of the box. Single Player: lacking strategy, variation, ammunition is definitely a poor game design. Generic hack and slash. Multiplayer: In the late 90's and early 2000's, FPS games were budding, and it was still cool to run around and kill with no strategy or care. The concept of being able to kill another human player over a network (LAN or Internet), was tremendous fun. Games like DOOM, Quake, Duke Nukem, lived in infamy. Then came games like Battlefield 1942 that turned the the multiplayer shooter world upside down. Now you could get in vehicles, change roles, form teams, set strategies, and just have a blast doing so. FPS's in my opinion, have never been the same since. Transformers WFC harkens back to the days of running around in a super tiny map, and blasting or bashing your opponent with no apparent purpose. It just seems to be stale and lacking for a time period such as now, that produces such great online multiplayer battles such as Bad Company 2. I played the multiplayer for possibly 45 minutes, and just couldn't see the point. This is perhaps why one reviewer was having trouble finding anyone online to play against? All in all, I would rent this game over a buy. I would also take a good hard look at this game in comparison to [other] games, instead of just comparing it to crappy movie renditions, and previous video game releases from the same franchise. Transformer's War for Cybertron may be better than all of those, but when you compare it to Bioshock, or Arkham Asylum for single player, and Battlefield games for multiplayer, it just doesn't stand a chance.

You'll get a few chuckles from the dialog in this game. They remind me all of their G1 counterparts. If you're someone who grew up on the 80's show and movie, don't hesitate to pick this one up.

The graphics and storyline are great. Especially the scenery, which is amazing. However, what really breaks the PC version is that controls are non-customizable, and the defaults suck. The keyboard controls are awkward at best, and if when I tried to use a gamepad the axes are inverted. I'm assuming you are supposed to use an Xbox 360 controller for windows. Which is exactly why this version is so much cheaper than the Xbox version...you see it and think "oh, this is not very expensive" so you buy it and find that you need to get an Xbox controller in order to get the most out of it since you can't change the default controls. Bottom line, don't buy this unless you already have the appropriate gamepad controller, or you are planning on getting one...

well the ideal looked good but its to arcade like to me. its like a shooter game like doom but not as good. if it been more like the video i like it a lot better. a mix of doom with Strategy would of been great. but oh well. just think if it could be like world of warcraft but with Transformers. now that would be cool. :)

AMD Phenom II X4 940 Processor 3.25 GB Usable RAM Windows 7 Nvidia 9600 GT AMD Phenom II X4 940 Processor 3.25 GB Usable RAM Windows 7 Nvidia 9600 GT Graphics: Awesome. There aren't many destructible items about, but other than that the graphics are great. To me, they hit the nail on the head in every aspect as to how a war torn Cybertron should look. Controls: A reviewer complained about the controls. It's like almost every other game out there. The only problem I had was the c and v buttons being used for higher and lower altitude for the jets were just a little out of reach. Game play: I will agree with the prior reviewers, the game is very linear. But, that is drastically overshadowed by how fun it is. With regard to the preview movies you may have seen, well that is how the game is, almost. You can fly through the air, transform mid-flight, and take out two enemies on the way down. If you have seen the Michael Bay movies action scenes, yeah, the game is almost as good, but you're a part of it. I would like to also add that there is a decent selection of Autobots and Decepticons as enemies and playable characters. I also LOVE the boss battles. The cuts scenes, action, and way you defeat the bosses are all done in a very "epic" manner. Multiplayer: I have tried a few of the types of multiplayer they all seem to be quite fun. Prior Reviewer Complaints: 1. One reviewer said that they didn't like the way Cybertron looked because it's doesn't have any pretty colors. - Hello!!! Cybertron has been war-torn for several million years; it even says that in the intro video. 2. Another person complained about the game being sluggish. - I have had absolutely no trouble what-so-ever. It loads quickly, and I have yet to have any lag in any part of the game. 3. Another complained about the lacking of people on the multiplayer aspect of the game. - I tried it out and had no trouble getting into many games. Although, if you write a review the moment the game comes out, DUH, there will be little action there. When it comes right down to it, if you want an in depth look at Cybertron and the relationships between the clans, don't bother with this game. But, if you want a game that is fun, fast-paced and isn't too difficult and with a decent look into the Cybertron universe, then you've come to the right place.

So, I installed the game, and started playing. The graphics are great (1920x1200 at high res) It is going to take me some time to get used to the controls. I've been playing Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen . It took almost no time to get used to the controls. After almost 90 minutes with War For Cybertron, I still found the controls 'clunky'. The gameplay was also a little sluggish, at least in single player mode, running the Autobot campaign. My hardware is about a year old, but much better than the minimums listed. I'm running an Alienware AMD Phenom II X4 925 with a Dual GPU nVidia GTX 295 1.7gb (896mb per GPU) and plenty of memory. I will most likely update this review as time goes on.

I have played through some of the campaign mode and have found the stages to be very ugly. The game is all dark earth tones, browns... junk floating in space. It looks horrible. Waves upon waves of the same few types of enemies... the transformers lore serves as a setting, but without any of the richness of say Batman: Arkham Asylum (which is a much much better game). This is okay to pass some time, but wait for it in the bargain bin. There is no real community for this, no forum for the game that I could find on the game site. The weapons are not that interesting, not nearly as fun as the guns in UT3, halo, Fallout or about any other shooter. Many times I open a weapon crate and cannot even pick up the item (bug?). I'll keep playing it, because I'm a fan of the franchise and I like that they use the original setting. If I don't get to kill at least one quintesson i'm going to be very dissapointed.

The Transformers toyline is typically divided into two main factions: the heroic Autobots and their opponents, the evil Deceptions (known in Japan as the Cybertrons and Destrons, respectively). Transformers toys are sold at a number of price points, and various Transformers series utilize unique play features.

There have also been a number of spin-offs based on the toys including a Marvel comic book series, an animated television series program presented by Claster Television, a television production company that Hasbro organized for this and similar purposes, that began transmissions in 1984 (Transformers series) and a feature-length movie, The Transformers: The Movie. The original series program was followed by a number of spin-offs with varying levels of popularity. A live-action remake, directed by Michael Bay under the sponsorship of Steven Spielberg, premiered on June 12, 2007 and opened in the United States on July 2, 2007.
