BananagramsReviewsBananagrams is one of those games that's fun for kids, adults, grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins. It's a fantastic game that spans the concept of a "recommended age" and provides not only an awesome fun time, but also can help develop spelling and word skills. Bananagrams is portable and durable, the entire game fits into a cloth "banana" that's only about 6-9 inches long. You don't even need a pencil and paper to keep score - all that you need is a free surface. The game works well with almost any number of players, young and old. It's just as much fun one-on-one as it is with a group of six or seven. You can even play by yourself if you want! The final thing I want to mention about Bananagrams is that every player is involved with the game at all times. There's no 'taking turns', and no down time. You're always playing, and trying to make words. It's a great game for restless kids who can't handle a game like Scrabble where you have to sit and wait for everyone else to make their words. What a wonderfully simplistic manner in which to develop and expand vocabulary and learn to readjust letters to formulate other words! Perfect for most ages! I have played this game with other adult friends and enjoyed it very much; I have also played with a 6-year-old using the tiles to spell out words she is learning. I liked bananagrams so much I bought my own game set after playing with a friend. If you enjoy scrabble/boggle/other word games, you will enjoy bananagrams! Simple concept that totally works. Take Scrabble, lose the board, speed it up, and pit people directly against each other. You will catch yourself yelling "PEEL" and "DUMP" with such zeal that you will forget your playing a word game. The price may be a little high for a cloth banana pouch with scrabble letters in it, but the lack of a box does make it super portable. Just toss it in your pocket and go, which makes it great for family vacations and the like. First let me say that I love the banana and special lingo that go with this game! My whole family plays this game - myself, husband, 8 year old, and 6 year old. My 8 year old does suprisingly well creating his own crossword, and we let my 6 year old just work on creating words without putting them into a crossword. We've played this game with our parents (grandparents) who are avid crossword lovers. They quickly caught on to this game and thoroughly enjoyed it! A lot easier, funner, and faster to play then Scrabble. We love Bananagrams! Average Rating:![]() |

ApplettersReviewsI was surprised at the different mindset to play this game compared to Bananagrams or Scrabble. Only being able to link to the beginning or ending of the word requires a different strategy. As a collector of word games, I was pleased to add this one to my collection. The apple bag is a gimmick, but it does look nice on the table in a fruit basket. I'm a huge Bananagrams fan. Understandably the Bananagrams company was hoping to repeat their much deserved success with Appleletters, but it's not nearly as interesting or fun. As another reviewer mentioned, the apple is barely big enough to hold the letters without spilling when it's unzipped. We have been playing Bananagrams since purchasing it July 2009 and love it so much that we couldn't wait to get this game made by the people. It is so much fun, especially if you love spelling games. More fun than Scrabble and easier. Anyone can play, young and old. Very portable and durable! Appleletters has provided hours of fun for our family this winter!! I suggest both games!! We loved Scrabble first and most, but Bananagrams became a favorite alternative. We decided to try Appletters this holiday, and it was enjoyed by all. Players must use different strategies than either Bananagrams or Scrabble, and the pace is slower than Bananagrams but faster than Scrabble. Fun for word game lovers. When I first read how you play appleletters I thought it sounded great. I love bananagrams so I thought I would give it a shot. The only problem with the same is the score keeping is very complicated, but the strategy and planning mindset is great. Also because of the way you keep score, its not good for Shabbat. Overall I look forward to playing it again though. Average Rating:![]() |

Pairs in PearsReviewsPairs in Pears is a fantastic game to play with children, or anyone working on their ability to spell and put together words. Not only does it help with spelling, but it's also a blast to play. It may be a great educational game for grade school children, but their parents can have plenty of fun playing with them too! It's also very flexible, and can support many different players - it's equally well suited for one-on-one time as it is group play. Highly recommended! I would have liked to have more description about how to play the game before we bought it but otherwise we had no problems with ordering or receiving the product. This game is soooo much fun. We play so many different ways. We play it with the young kids and the adults and everyone have fun! A Must have!!! Played this game over the weekend while visiting my parents. I loved it! We've played banagrams and appleletters too, but this is by far my favorite. Great for young children because you could use only 3 letter words the entire time, and great for adults because you can challenge yourself by forming longer words and matching the patterns. Beware though - this is a fast paced game, not necessarily for the scrabble loving crowd. Great game for grade school children learning how to spell. Kids loved it and it makes them spell out words and the whole family can play Average Rating:![]() |

BananaGrams! The Official BookReviewsMy husband are I are avid bananagrams fans. He is what I would refer to as a "wordy." When I saw this book, I knew it would be a great gift for him to take on the beach or plane. The puzzles range from easy to hard and they really make you think about words you could be using. It reminds me a little more of Scrabble than bananagrams, but that's ok. It's still a lot of fun. Joe Edley and the creators of Banagrams need to sit down with the people at Workman Publishing and talk about the book binding. It is annoying to have the pages fall out of the book while you are sitting, say... in a doctor's waiting room or standing in a line...pages flying everywhere. Then you have to manage how to hold the collected loose sheets. If you want the pages to be easily removable, use micro-perforations. Otherwise, please use a better binding system. I will not buy another book of challenges until you fix the binding problem. Too bad because the word challenges are very good and the game itself is great. I like this book and hope they come out with more volumes! My 10-year-old daughter loves the bananagrams for kids book, too! I like this book and hope they come out with more volumes! My 10-year-old daughter loves the bananagrams for kids book, too! I bought this for my mom who loves to play bananagrams on her own at home. This was perfect since she rides the train and waits in a lot of doctor offices to keep her busy, without all the letters from the actual bananagrams game to worry about losing. It's not as frustrating as crossword puzzles, but keeps her thinking and busy. Average Rating:![]() |

Game of the Year winner at the 2009 International Toy Fair, Bananagrams is the international phenomenon that started with a simple idea: "An anagram game that is so fast it will drive you bananas!" Doing for letters what Sudoku did for numbers, it's the obsessive new puzzle craze that starts with 144 letter tiles in a banana-shaped bag and captures all the fun of crosswords and word games like Scrabble and Boggle... |

She is 10 years old and is a very good critical thinker, so I wouldn't have bought this for my 8 year old. I like the adult book, too! Average Rating:![]() |
