I played this game with friends - and really enjoyed it! We bought a game for our home and we love playing it! We play with two people just fine. I highly recommend this game!

9 year old against 52 year old, makes a very fun game. Enough intricacies to keep it interesting, but very easy to master. Rolling the dice adds chance elements, controlling your pieces on the board encourages planning and strategy. Very fun, the pace is controlled by the players. Purchased for home, liked it... so purchased another as a gift. The only criticism I see, the board is a puzzle-like card field. Awesome because you can change the playing field from game to game! But I suspect those cardboard connections will weaken with time. We simply take care when putting the game away to keep it 'new'.

Having come back from an excellent holiday where I played this game a couple of times with my brother and nephews, I can say that this game was a great bonding experience - it is really good fun and it is not dominated by luck - skill is needed in terms of placing and strategy - the fact that the board changes each time is an added plus.

Settlers is a wonderful addition to your game shelf. The basis of playing revolves around economics; you gather and use five resources to build your settlements faster than the other players. This is quantified by "Victory Points" you accumulate by building cities, roads, and amassing an army, among other things. The best part about this game is how free the players are when it comes to trading resources. This leads to a lot of politics and some backstabbing, which is really fun and unpredictable. Each game is randomized, so no two games will be alike. Setup is easy and the game pieces are made of wood, a welcome rarity in the plastic gaming era. The only limiting factor is its narrow margin of number of players required. You need at least three or the game is too easy. Four gives players the best challenge but you won't be breaking out this game during parties unless you buy the 5-6 player expansion. Settlers is a great game, and every circle of friends should have a copy.

This game is crazy. It is extremely fun if you like strategy games. It's like combining monopoly and risk, then shortening the gameplay down to about 30 min to an hour, and adding some extra awesome to it. I love this game. It takes a little while to set up but it's totally worth it.

If you are contemplating purchasing the expansion for Catan, then you already are aquatinted with the amazingness of this game. All you need to ask yourself, is do you find your friends having to sit out and watch 4 people play catan, waiting for the next game to play? If so, then buy this multi-player expansion. It gets the job done.

I want to buy this game after the first time I played it. My wife doesn't like me playing video games at all, but she agrees me to buy one of this cause she loves it after the first time she played it, too !! After we bought the game, my mom came to visit us, she loved it, too !! So I'd say this game is very attractive to all age or generations.

I love this game. I have bought several times for me and my friends. It is an excellent board game for your brain training.

We have a large family and this extension has let more of us play at the same time. Good quality game. We really enjoy playing this together.

Just played this for the first time with my wife and my 7 and 5 year old boys. We had played the original Settlers of Catan several times, and this one was even more fun. My boys loved building boats, and though my 5 year old is not exactly one for strategy, he had a blast building tons of boats along his island (he ended up with the most boats). We played this game 2 days ago, and ever since, we hear nothing out of them but "When can we play Seafarers of Catan again?" All in all, a great addition to an already great game in Settlers, and a must have for board game afficianados.

Fantastic addition to an already fantastic game. Game board pieces get a little unwieldy to manage and are a bit flimsy. Also, would have been nice if they created a tray specifically for this game addition vs. using the existing Catan tray -- some of the board pieces you just cram in, nowhere in particular. Fortunately these have no bearing on the actual gameplay, which is great.

Very fun game expansion for Settlers of Catan. If you are wondering if it is worth it...don't. It is in no way a gamble. While you're at it, buy Cities and Knights too.

We recently started playing Settlers of Catan and my kids, 10 and 7, LOVE it! So much so that my daughter wanted all the expansion packs for her birthday. I went online and read the reviews and Seafarers was recommended more highly than the other expansion packs so I decided to start with it first. I agree. It is a great addition to the original game. Lots of fun, but definitely adds more challenges to the original game. Of course, like the original Settlers, the initial setup takes a while, especially reading through all the instructions and scenarios, but once you get going, it's hours of fun. We've only played once but the manual has many different layouts for 3 and 4 players so we are looking forward to many more hours of family play. I highly recommend this if you like Settlers and want to add more dimensions to the game. My only gripe with both games (more so with the original) is the pieces sometimes don't stay flat so we have to bend the pieces a little to make them fit.

This is an excellent addition to the original 'Settlers of Catan.' Makes the game a bit more interesting without adding too much additional complexity. A great game for all Catan fans!
