I got this for my 3 year old daughter after we watched the video review together. It came fully assembled and we took it outside in the sun and the little guy started jumping! My daughter still plays with it and uses it both inside and outside. You do need direct sunlight to get it to work but it is so much fun. I will definitely be purchasing a couple more! Great product!!

This was super easy to put together and a great teaching tool for my young son.

There was nothing to put together and it did not work. The other toys by this company are fun. Skip this one.

We ordered this toy for my son's science fair project. I am glad we ordered two because one of them did not work when we received it. This toy is educational and my son loved it, however, it is not as exciting as you might expect. It does not walk on its own when exposed to light, it vibrates. This makes a great tool for a science fair project but it is delicate.

mine came fully assembled and we have yet to try it in sunlight. It works well under book light and seems like an excellent learning toy for the price !

My 7 year old son was given this for a birthday gift. It's total junk. Difficult to build (even for the adult "helping") and it didn't really work once put together anyway. In total direct sunlight is the only situation in which the wheels spin and then they're so poorly molded that the leftover bumps keep it from moving. Straight to the trash.

I bought this toy for my son's birthday. He loved the idea of it, however some of the pieces were difficult to put together and a little flimsy. Part of the difficulty was that it is a really small toy. barely palm-sized. Overall he really liked it because he enjoys building things. he liked the fact that he could build several different things. It worked really well when in direct sunlight. the wheels won't roll on concrete. maybe on a super smooth surface? haven't tried that yet. Anyway...overall my son liked it. got frustrated with it but liked it initially.

My brother purchased the OWI 6 in 1 educational solar kit as part of his middle school graduation present; needless to say by the title of this review it is junk, absolute crap. First off this "toy" is much more complicated and much smaller than it seems on the box, and as for the recommended age of 10 it would be impossible for one so young. I'm 17, an honors student, and it was difficult for me . Your first hint to its low quality is the large stamp MADE IN CHINA right across the bottom almost as if it's some kind of excuse. Secondly the instructions are worse than those DIY media cabinets from IKEA. They don't even bother to coil the wires for you and if you slip up and remove the twister early, too bad for you. Finally, and probably most importantly, the stupid tiny motor doesn't even turn the gear. In full sunlight all you get is a little struggling, humming noise. Big Whoop! What I really want to say would get this review tagged and removed, but for your own peace of mind and your child's happiness, DONT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!

The item is hard to assemble since the wiring connections are broken easily. Good concept with poor quality. Very disappointed.

People who know that rewards come from effort will find this solar educational toy to be good value and good fun, and also good education. As other reviewers mention (and as is clearly marked) this has small parts, and needs assembly. People who like the easy way out will find this does not work for them. Not only is this "solar robot kit" not that expensive, "ready to run" alternatives cost several times over, and are not at all that educational really: the need to put effort, and attention to detail, are good educational points in themselves, besides the physics and electronics, and the actually being able to see how it all fits together to work. BTW, this is a *solar* item. It is NOT designed to work under electric lamps. To get full results you may have to go outside, another big plus in itself. Highly recommended for homeschoolers. Maybe 10 years old is about the youngest I would give this to, 12 being about ideal.
